The Death Eater attack on Diagon Alley was only mentioned in passing in the Harry Potter books, and had a brief scene in the movies, but I wanted to illustrate it because it seemed like a turning point in the story. Diagon Alley represented the 'heart' of the wizarding community, it is where we are first introduced to all the wonders of the magical world. To see it being destroyed is heart-breaking, and like some of the more obvious turning points in the last book (ie. Harry leaving Privet Drive & Headwig's death), it establishes that childhood is over, and that the inevitable battle is drawing near.
This was for an assignment to paint a complex street scene. It's definitely one of the most complicated images I've attempted. It has its issues, but I learnt a lot from it
